Real World Problem
My real world problem is my garage is 10 ft tall and the base of the ladder is 4 ft from the bottom of the garage, so I have to find out how long of a ladder I need.
Parent Problem
Bob is hanging Christmas lights up on his roof. He needs to find out how tall of a ladder he is going to need to get onto the roof. Bobs house is 11 feet tall and the base of the ladder is 5 feet from the bottom of his house. Find the hypotenuse of the triangle and use the equation to find the answer.

This is my parent problem, my mom had no problem with it and she remembered how to do the Pythagorean theorem. She remembered the equation A squared +B squared =C squared and remembered that after you got C you have to square root it to find the length.
Reflections
In this investigation I learned a lot about how to use the Pythagorean Theorem in math and in real life. I like how it relates to actual real life problems like to find out how tall of a ladder you need to get to the top of your house. I also thought at the start of this investigation Pythagorean Theorem would be really hard with the exponents and letters but it turned out to be really easy to do once you understood it.
